My first idea for a biome was something involving vines, and mountain scopes, gravitating towards a yellow/purple complimentary color scheme.
But just to expand my ideas I checked out Biomes of the World
Here I found a savanna Biome, something I would never really think of doing, and fell in love with the baobab tree.
Thus I decided to do a Biome in the savanna just so I can use these trees. What I am drawn to about the trees is their towering height over the rest of the environment. They are a key element in the landscape. And I really want to make a modular tree kit for them!
The only draw back on the savanna environment is the vast flat terrain. I love to set dress and my compositions rely strongly on the population of things in the environment (clutter) to carry the images. With all this flat terrain it would be hard to get the nice populated feel I am so drawn to.
To remedy this I came up with the idea that the savanna is on a cliff side that looks similar to a canyon or the Victoria Falls in Zambia. It seemed like a good idea until I was reminded of the scope in relation to the time frame. I was then convinced to focus on detail of a small image then a wide one.
(Thumbnails for Cliff Environment)
I have decided to do a savanna environment, and keep the scope down. The terrain will have variation but not perched on a towering cliff side like I first thought. Besides, Baobab's do not grow on cliff sides... back to the drawing board!
